  • Brewers' Isaac Collins: Sitting for second time in series

Collins is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays.

After Garrett Mitchell (oblique) landed on the injured list April 26, Collins has taken on a more regular role in the outfield and has produced a .782 OPS since that time. However, his grasp on an everyday gig could be slipping, as Collins now finds himself on the bench versus a right-handed pitcher (Drew Rasmussen) for the second time in the series. Jake Bauers will pick up another start in left field at Collins' expense.

  • Brewers' William Contreras: Making third straight start

Contreras will start at catcher and bat cleanup in Sunday's game against the Rays.

Though he sat out Wednesday's 9-1 loss to Houston, Contreras confirmed that he planned to continue playing through a fractured middle finger on his catching hand. The two-time All-Star has been able to do just that over the past two games, catching eight innings Friday and nine more Saturday while going 1-for-7 with a walk, an RBI and a run scored. Even with the Brewers wrapping up their series in Tampa Bay on Sunday with a day game, Contreras won't be deployed as a designated hitter and will remain behind the plate, a sign the coaching and training staffs are comfortable with his health.

  • Brewers' Elvis Peguero: Moves up to big leagues

The Brewers recalled Peguero from Triple-A Nashville on Sunday.

Milwaukee sent starter Tobias Myers to Triple-A in a corresponding move to clear a spot in the bullpen for Peguero. The 28-year-old righty was a staple of the Milwaukee bullpen in 2024, but he posted a 5.68 ERA and 1.74 WHIP in five appearances with the big club to begin the season before being optioned to Nashville on April 11. The right-hander has performed better over the past month at Triple-A, giving up two earned runs on six hits and four walks over eight innings across seven appearances.

  • Brewers' Tobias Myers: Sent to Triple-A

The Brewers optioned Myers to Triple-A Nashville on Sunday.

The right-hander gave up two runs over four frames in a no-decision Saturday versus the Rays, and it appears he'll be the odd man out of the rotation with Brandon Woodruff (shoulder) and Aaron Civale (hamstring) nearing their returns from the injured list. Myers missed most of the first month of the season due to an oblique strain and never fully found his footing through five outings with a 3.86 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 11:10 K:BB across 16.1 innings. The 26-year-old was a key rotation piece for Milwaukee last season and will likely get another look in the majors before too long.

  • Brewers' Tobias Myers: Goes four innings in no-decision

Myers did not factor into the decision in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Rays, allowing two runs on three hits and three walks with three strikeouts over four innings.

Myers allowed two runs in the fourth inning and was lifted after 75 pitches, 47 of which went for strikes. The 26-year-old has completed five innings just once through four starts, never exceeding 82 pitches. He owns a 3.86 ERA, 1.53 WHIP, and 11:10 K:BB across 16.1 innings and lines up for a home matchup with the Twins next weekend.

  • Brewers' Bobby Dalbec: Latches on with Brewers

Dalbec signed a minor-league contract with the Brewers on Saturday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Dalbec became a free agent Tuesday after being designated for assignment by the White Sox, with whom he went 4-for-18 across seven games. Now in the Brewers organization, the 29-year-old will return to Triple-A, where he's slashed .326/.354/.696 over 48 plate appearances this year.

  • Brewers' Jackson Chourio: Busy on basepaths Friday

Chourio went 3-for-5 with a run scored and two stolen bases in Friday's 4-3 loss to the Rays.

His error in center field in the third inning helped Tampa Bay get on the board, but Chourio did his best to make up for it from the leadoff spot. The 21-year-old has been on a roll over the last couple weeks, slashing .304/.316/.446 since April 25 with one homer, three steals, four RBI and five runs in 13 contests.

  • Brewers' Jose Quintana: Settles for no-decision Friday

Quintana came away with a no-decision in Friday's 4-3 loss to the Rays, giving up three runs (one earned) on five hits and two walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out three.

An error by Jackson Chourio in the third inning and an interference call on Caleb Durbin in the sixth during a rundown led to the two unearned runs against Quintana. The veteran southpaw got the hook after 75 pitches (51 strikes) and passed a big personal milestone along the way -- he's one of only six active pitchers with over 2,000 career innings in the majors, joining a group that includes Justin Verlander, Clayton Kershaw and Chris Sale. The Brewers have rotation reinforcements on the way, but Quintana's spot seems secure given his 2.65 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 24:11 K:BB through 34 innings. He'll look to get back in the win column in his next outing, which lines up to come on the road next week in Cleveland.

  • Brewers' Freddy Peralta: Starting Monday vs. Cleveland

Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Friday that Peralta (groin) is scheduled to start against the Guardians on Monday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Peralta tweaked his groin near the end of his last start against the Cubs this past Sunday. He was able to throw a bullpen session Friday without issue, and the 28-year-old right-hander is on track to take the hill for the Brewers on Monday while Chad Patrick gets the start against the Rays on Sunday. Peralta is 4-2 in eight starts with a 2.18 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 48:15 K:BB across 45.1 innings.

  • Brewers' Aaron Ashby: Shifting rehab to Triple-A

Ashby (oblique) will move his rehab assignment to Triple-A Nashville on Sunday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Ashby started the season on the injured list due to a right oblique strain he suffered in mid-March. He was recently cleared to embark on a rehab assignment, and in his lone outing in the Arizona Complex League on Tuesday he allowed three runs on three hits and two walks while striking out one over 1.1 innings. The 26-year-old southpaw is aiming to toss about three innings Sunday, and he'll likely need multiple rehab outings before he's cleared to return to the majors.

  • Brewers' DL Hall: Moving rehab to Triple-A

Hall (lat) will continue his rehab assignment with Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Hall is progressing in his recovery from a left lat strain that he suffered in late February, which caused him to start the season on the 60-day injured list. He's pitched well in his two rehab outings in the Arizona Complex League, allowing one hit and two walks while striking out eight over five scoreless innings. Hall is aiming to throw 60-to-65 pitches Wednesday, and he'll need multiple rehab starts before being reinstated from the IL.

  • Brewers' Brandon Woodruff: Will make one more rehab start

Woodruff (shoulder) will make one more rehab start at Triple-A Nashville on Sunday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Barring any setbacks, Woodruff is expected to make his return to the Brewers' rotation for next weekend's series against the Twins. Woodruff hasn't pitched in the majors since injuring his shoulder in September 2023. In addition to Woodruff, the Brewers also appear close to getting Aaron Civale (hamstring) back from the injured list after he tossed four scoreless innings in a rehab start Thursday.

  • Brewers' Sal Frelick: Returns to Milwaukee lineup

Frelick (knee) will start in right field and bat sixth in Friday's game versus the Rays.

Frelick missed each of the previous three contests with left knee inflammation, but he's feeling well enough to play in Friday's series opener. The outfielder sports a .297/.381/.398 batting line with one homer and five steals over 135 plate appearances in 2025.

  • Brewers' Vinny Capra: Booted from 40-man roster

The Brewers designated Capra for assignment Friday.

Capra has gone just 4-for-54 at the plate this season to earn a trip off the 26-man and 40-man rosters. He offers defensive versatility, so it's possible he could draw interest via trade or waivers.

  • Brewers' Andruw Monasterio: Back with big club

The Brewers recalled Monasterio from Triple-A Nashville on Friday.

Monasterio slashed just .208/.303/.272 over 59 games with Milwaukee last season. He will be used as a utility infielder.

  • Brewers' Bryan Hudson: Recalled from Triple-A

The Brewers recalled Hudson from Triple-A Nashville on Friday.

Hudson posted a 4.15 ERA and 9:9 K:BB across 8.2 innings with the Brewers earlier this season but showed better control at Nashville with no walks in four frames. He'll operate in middle relief.
