Pelicans' CJ McCollum: Shut down for rest of season
The Pelicans announced Monday that McCollum (foot) will miss the remainder of the 2024-25 season.
McCollum has missed three straight games with a right foot contusion, and the Pelicans have decided to shut down the star guard for the rest of the campaign amid a losing season. With McCollum done for the year, Bruce Brown has a clear pathway to a starting role down the stretch. Over eight starts since landing in New Orleans, Brown has averaged 11.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.8 blocks in 28.3 minutes.

After erupting for 40 points (16-28 FG, 5-12 3Pt, 3-5 FT), five rebounds, seven assists and one steal over 37 minutes during Sunday's 136-130 loss to Detroit, McCollum is getting a maintenance day against the 76ers. McCollum recorded 40 points (16-28 FG, 5-12 3Pt, 3-5 FT), five rebounds, seven assists and one steal over 37 minutes during Sunday's 136-130 loss to Detroit.
McCollum did it all for New Orleans offensively in Sunday's contest, leading all players in scoring and shots made while ending second on the team in threes made and assists during a losing effort. McCollum has scored 40 or more points four times this season, connecting on five or more threes in all those contests.

Pelicans' CJ McCollum: Scores 15 points on 15 shots
McCollum finished Friday's 134-93 loss to the Timberwolves with 15 points (6-15 FG, 1-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds, three assists and four steals in 28 minutes.
The Pelicans looked overmatched in this contest on both ends of the court, and McCollum, who finished with the same amount of points and field-goal attempts, was one of the few decent performers in this 41-point loss. McCollum has been struggling of late, reaching the 20-point mark in just two of his last six outings while shooting a subpar 36.5 percent from the floor in that span.

McCollum chipped in three points (1-15 FG, 0-7 3Pt, 1-5 FT), five assists, four rebounds and two steals over 30 minutes during Monday's 127-81 loss to the Pistons.
McCollum delivered an abysmal performance from the field Monday, recording a season-low three points. The star combo guard has scored single-digit points in two of his last three outings, during which he has shot only 29.8 percent from the field. On the bright side, McCollum collected multiple swipes for the seventh time on the season.

McCollum continues to be a prolific producer during the Pelicans' lost season. The veteran guard bounced back from a modest nine-point performance against the Magic to lead the team in scoring. McCollum is now averaging 17.6 points, 5.3 assists and 3.6 rebounds across seven March contests.

Pelicans' CJ McCollum: Muted performance in loss
McCollum closed Thursday's 113-93 loss to Orlando with nine points (3-10 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds and four assists across 23 minutes.
McCollum couldn't generate much offense in this lopsided loss, while Jose Alvarado and Jordan Hawkins provided a spark off the bench with a combined 23 points. McCollum has been in a slump lately, as he's sitting outside the top-150 in nine-category formats over his last five games with 14.4 points, 4.0 assists, 3.0 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 2.8 three-pointers in 28.5 minutes.

McCollum amassed 13 points (5-15 FG, 3-6 3Pt), two rebounds and two assists in 34 minutes during Thursday's 109-97 loss to the Rockets.
This was a rough showing for McCollum, but fantasy managers can at least be satisfied with the usage rate. McCollum has been in a bit of a slump lately, as he's been producing at an 11th-round valuation in nine-category formats over his last 10 games. During that stretch, McCollum posted averages of 19.6 points, 4.1 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 3.0 three-pointers on 45.1 percent shooting from the field.

McCollum (rest) is not on the injury report for Sunday's game against the Jazz.
McCollum missed the second leg of the back-to-back set against the Suns on Friday due to rest-related reasons, but the veteran guard is set to return to the hardwood Friday. He's averaging a solid line of 21.9 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game since the beginning of February.

McCollum will get a breather for the second leg of a back-to-back set after he appeared in each of the Pelicans' previous six games while averaging 19.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.5 three-pointers in 32.3 minutes per contest. With McCollum sidelined, the Pelicans will likely lean more heavily on Jordan Hawkins and Jose Alvarado out of the backcourt.

Pelicans' CJ McCollum: Scores 19 points in win
McCollum amassed 19 points (7-18 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds and two assists over 34 minutes during Thursday's 124-116 win over the Suns.
Zion Williamson (rest) led the way for the Pelicans with a triple-double. Still, McCollum was among several New Orleans players who delivered a solid performance in this tight win. That said, the veteran has been struggling in the efficiency department in recent days. In four games since the All-Star break, McCollum is shooting 37.3 percent from the floor and 27.6 percent from deep while averaging 15.0 points per game. Those figures are a sizable drop compared to his season-long averages of 21.9 points per game, shooting 44.9 percent from the floor and 37.4 percent from deep.
